Each week it seems that we have to hear about another child has been mudered on our streets of london.
“A 13-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of murder, attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm after an alleged group attack which left one teenager dead and another seriously injured.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with, acting with others unknown, murdering Paul Erhahon, 14, in Leytonstone, east London, on Friday. ” (Source Msn news article 10.04.07).
The pain and sorrow that all the families have to deal with as another child is taken by the ever increasing crime on our streets is absolutely devastating. Now, with the murderers themselves getting younger and younger it feels that we are living amongst a generation of lost souls who have nothing to live for and no value of life, be it someone elses or their own.
Where are our strong leaders and icons of today? Once upon a time in history there were strong people for the youth to aspire to. People who provided positive guidence and knowledge to the next generation of young ethnic people growing up. Instead we are left with a sense of hopelessness and disengagement coming from young people as they are left to fend for themselves on these tough streets.
Something has to be done and something needs to be said. However where do we start helping to build a positive future for these children? Before any more blood is shed!
