Take a jug of Jazz, two teaspoons of Soul and a twist of R & B… then add a cup full of Gospel, a sprinkle of Reggae and a pinch of Latin, served with Raw Emotion ~There you have the YolanDa Brown sound. [source: Myspace Bio]
YolanDa Brown is on the whole multi instrumentalist throne, but a sister found her calling from the Jazz staple instrument, the saxophone in other words her voice. A Lady has garnered justifiable acclaim internationally and to say she started playing live in 2006/7 methinks, won in a row two MOBO awards for 2008/09 along the line during those years, well a minor feat really you know… [laughing out loud] her Masters and currently embarking on her PhD.
YolanDa Brown is a music talent to reckon with [Soweto Kinch another], for those who have seen her live as I browsed through the interwebs, a sister is a joy, inspiration, thanks to her personality and ensuring audience involvement and the saxophone soulful cries that emanates.
Have butchers and let it been known.
