This week on onthebuzz is going to be a mish mash of music from hip hop to jazz and jazz to soul.

Right lets start proceedings with positive and inspirational hip hop, it makes sense as this is a good continuity of how we ended yesterday with the positive music message of Queen Ifrica.

If i remember correctly i came across this gentleman via a friend who introduced me to sphereofhiphop and another alerted me recently to his video, after seeing it on youtube had to do a write up on the artist known as Sivion (Best New Artist of the Year at Sphereofhiphop.com).

Sivion (Gary Watson) is a different type of hip hop artist, well lets take a soulful jazzy beat produced by 9th Wonder or Hi-Tek and Talib Kweli come Common‘ish flow and rap, but Sivion none of these just think of the vibe they bring, conscious hip hop.

Conscious hip hop indeed but with uplifting positive lyrics and no cursing (what?), respect, hence no parental advisory malarkey, its refreshing his sound and lyrical prowess.

Sivion’s most recent album “Springboard of the Songbird” from tracks Spring Show to Hiphop Is Music is bliss with good production, pump it in your car or yard its a head nodder, but don’t nod your head to hard because a major here is the words and story.

Have a butcher’s and feel this positivity of Sivion.

Lyrics excerpt – Going Through It (Ft. Braille) from Springboard of the Songbird

We’re going through it, the hard times, good times, bad times/
Were going through it, the long days, good days, hard days/

So many obstacles stand in my way/ sit down or get knocked down/
Those are your options I can’t be afraid/ walk out or get knocked out/
The hot sound gets played on the radio/ hot girls do their dance in the video/
I try to hold my ground as an individual/ and not get boxed in by the stereo – types/
Late night at the studio/ lacing tracks is a daily scenario/
Perfecting the craft with few checks to cash/ pay all my bills and got less than half/
I’m not intimidated by the industry/ I do this for myself, the fans, and my family/
God is more than enough/ no matter what troubles may come/
