What was it like when you first heard Jill Scott’s debut release “Who is Jill Scott”, soulful obviously, fresh, original, poetic, fierce, a nice bit of crumpet quality; a few words that are associated with the album.
Some years down the line I come across Khethi Ntshangase, a sister from the Rainbow Nation (South Africa) and instinctively the same vibe, a foot deep and she just embodies positivity/awareness and passionate about what she does through singing, spoken word & channelling through the medium of “AfroSoulJazz” (Afro- soul jazz with a touch of hip-hop) and activism.
Khethi Ntshangase the singer and poet is not going to be bedazzled she says and “I want to make music that will last, not something that will be hot for three months and just fizzle out.” Ermm, I thinks that a no, no to the corporate entities in it for quick gain!
This has only focused a sister’s attention and enhance the passion to spring and bring her debut long player “Xemplify” (listen to the stream, out soon to purchase) to the masses.
A track and video of the forthcoming album, here is “Lady Tupandve” as we wait… Have a butchers and let it be known.
