As promised earlier in the week, Jazz will feature on onthebuzz to deviate from the normal stable of hip hop and soul!

An artist that puts a modern turn on today’s Jazz with ingredients of soul, simplicity, light drum n bass and hip hop is none other than world citizen José James.

José James came to the apex of music affairs with the debut and release of “The Dreamer” in 2008 via the world reknown BBC DJ Gilles Peterson and his Brownswood Recordings Label.

The brother is/was on miles high with this album, because from the drum n bass influenced track “Love” to the more classic contemporary jazz track ” Desire ” the record is a class apart and simplicity at best, vocals and instrumentation, good music.

This is what some said with regards to Jose James, “I thought singers like this didn’t exist anymore, I was wrong, José James is here to remind us why we love music so much!” – Gilles Peterson

“Just when you think that real voices are gone and replaced by synthesized vocoders or perfectly melodined melodies, comes a real voice. A voice who’s texture, tone and timbre seem to trace the history of real jazz greats. A voice that when you hear it, you know that’s what defines the word voice. Ladies and Gents José James” – King Britt.

Says it all i think, here is a stand out track “Park Bench People” of “The Dreamer album, Have a butchers and feel José James!
