Ali Shaheed Muhammad is one of the finest rappers, producers and DJs.

For those not acquainted with the guy, he was one-third of A Tribe Called Quest that included Q tip, Phife Dawg on tracks like Bonita Applebum, I Left My Wallet in El Segundo, Can I Kick It, Jazz (We’ve Got),Electric Relaxation, Stressed Out to mention but a few.

With A Tribe Called Quest dispersed, releasing 5 albums between 1990-1998 and not wanting to end there, Ali was instrumental in creating the critically acclaimed supergroup Lucy Pearl which consisted of him, Raphael Saadiq and Dawn Robinson.

It was unfortunate that Lucy Pearl with the smooth vocals and  jazzy/hip hop production on the album also titled LUCY PEARL, nothing has been heard since 2000 eventhough fans wait in anticipation.

Ali Shaheed Muhammad is not totally of the radar by any means, the man presents a radio show on XM Radio – Channel 65, does the DJ circuit and founder of Garden Seeker Productions, formed to establish a communal effort amongst artists seeking to re-establish versatility and timelessness within their music.

Through this project the recently listened to album that is Shaheedullah and Stereotypes (2004) was released. In a sense a slept on album in these quarters, this was “fire” from the opening track – social reform to closing track – elevated orange.

Soothing, jazzy, mellow jazzy hip hop with rich lyrical content. All in all lets see what Mr. Muhammad has up his sleeves in terms of future projects another supergroup maybe?
