Music artists are a talented bunch but when they blow up, gain some popularity, suddenly they want to spread their wings to do all sorts, in particular acting.
Not hating you are allowed to explore any artistic form! Some pull it off and some dont, there are a few who do a top notch job, Mos Def comes to mind.
Jill Scott hugely admired for her soothing soulful sound and music is not only good at putting out quality music, but a quality actress and doing so for the past few years.
Her breakthrough came in the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency broadcast on the BBC earlier this year, about Botswana’s first female owned detective agency in Gaborone dealing with issues such as domestic violence, forgiveness, restitution and marital infidelity.
Grammy award-winning singer Jill Scott plays the lead Mma Precious Ramotswe and does the lady detective role with the accent, JUSTICE and inturn the TV series based on novels by author Alexander McCall Smith and directed by the late Anthony Minghella gaining critical acclaim and good reviews.
From what has been seen this is a funny comedic drama with a great cast, out now on DVD!
